Just south of Kostenets town is the village/small town of Kostenets and in fact, both areas are almost joined together. Kostenets village is located at the very foot of the Rila Mountains and has an abundance of historic sites and beautiful natural landmarks. Should you visit this area, a trip to Kostenets village is certainly recommended.

With a good selection of shops and cafes, you can sit out in the small central park admiring the dominating Rila Mountains behind while drinking coffee. In the summer, the highly popular Gergiovden Fair is held here annually attracting many visitors with its live music displays, traditional Bulgarian costumes and wide variety of things to purchase.

For accommodation, there are around 4 or 5 guest houses and villas available with prices starting from a very low 4 Euros per night! Don't expect 4 star accommodation for this but rooms are said to be comfortable and clean with welcoming Bulgarian hosts

There is an impressive waterfall in the waterfall in the village called 'Kostenski Waterfall' and i The Chapel of Assumption which sits at the top of a small mountain overlooking Kostenets village is definitely well worth a walk up to as the views are simply breathtaking.

In Kostenets village itself, you can find the impressive Chapel of the Assumption which is more like a large church but very beautiful and a protected piece of Bulgarian culture. It has a very distinctive arched front and typical Orthodox bell tower dominating the front of the building.

There is a spa in the village with an open air swimming pool, which in summer is filled with mineral water direct from underground pure sources. For just 1 lev, you can spend all day relaxing at the pool, immersed in high quality mineral water. Certainly good value for money! The temperature of the hypothermic mineral waters of the village of Kostenets is 46 - 73C. They contain sulphates, hydrocarbonates, fluorine, sodium and radon. The debit of the waters is 12 litres per second. The influence of the mineral waters is especially favourable for:
