Gutsal is a typical Bulgarian village set in a valley at the foot of the Rila and Sredna Gora mountains, giving fantastic views from the village itself. With a picturesque small lake near, two shops and a traditional orthodox church, it has an easy going pace of life which makes it a popular holiday home destination.

As with many villages in the area, Gutsal has become a favoured destination for eco-tourists and those wishing to have a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Donkey and carts is a common site in the village, giving Gutsal an 'olde world' charm.

The mayor of Samokov, Angel Nikolov, announced that there is to be a connecting road between Samokov, Borovets and Gutsal. This obviously makes access to Samokov very easy and of course, the world class resort of Borovets aswell. The road will also lead to Plovdiv as currently all traffic from this region of Bulgaria must pass through Borovets. The road will be 17kms long, making Borovets only 7kms away. It will be constructed from European funds.
