This highly exciting new project which has sparked off huge interest in this charming region is the new Ibar Golf and Country Club development. At least 20 Million Euros will be spent on developing a high class golf and leisure environment, with the world renowned Nicklaus design team creating the whole golf course.

The golf course is being designed by the son of Jack Nicklaus, Steve Nicklaus, and will be ready by 2008. Being their first development in Bulgaria, they fully intend to make it an impressive to their repertoire of outstanding courses throughout America and Europe. The length will be around 10, 000m and will be up to international standards (it is intended for important tournaments to be held here). With 18 holes, it will be ideal for all golfers at all skill levels. There will be a driving range and designated practice areas to warm up before going on the course.

It is easy to see why the site for the Ibar Golf course was chosen- it is simply stunning! Whereas the majority of the courses on the coast are located on rather anonymous windswept flat sites, the Ibar Golf course site is located at the foot of the magnificent Rila Mountains with great views to the famous Ibar and Mousala peaks. The ground is lightly hilly and ideal for an interesting golfing terrain; this will probably be the best course in Bulgaria!.

Tourism to the Dolna Banya region will be greatly increased all the year round on the completion of this project and plenty new high class 4 Star hotels will be built around the perimeter of the course along with brand new spa facilities as from tests, it has been shown that underneath the course there is an abundance of mineral water. This is what Dolna Banya is most famous actually- mineral water. Many properties in Dolna Banya and the surrounding area often have real mineral water connected to them. What a unique thing to have with a property?!
